Sproutbau in Bremen
I volunteered and participated in an astounding month long live-in experiment in Bremen in Germany.
An empty multi-storey building at the edge of Bremen, which was to be demolished, was turned over to temporary inhabitants that wanted to explore individual living utopias. Most of the ideas and experiments asked questions regarding self-sufficient, sustainable living.
Each participant was given an apartment
to materialize his idea.
There was a wide spectrum of projects ranging from architectural designs to
theatre performances. Sproutbau was a remarkable place to experiment and a
platform for exchange and discussion.
My design of growing walls that can be eaten at the end of the project did not get very far off the ground, but it was received with enthusiasm in anticipation of a tasty salad.
