Urban Tree House
The year’s final project to design
a house for two people on a site near railway tracks in Manchester. The site
and the surrounding area has a factory like character with old warehouses
and XIX century industrial architecture.
My proposal was to construct an "Urban
Tree House" using the existing steel columns and the beam running through
the site as main structural support. The structure is to "grow"
around, and be supported on, the metal truss and columns just like a tree
house, on the brunches and the trunk of a tree.
